2009 FESTIVAL COMES TO A CLOSE

 The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships comes to a close after breaking a record for attendance, 25,000 people were reported to be in Oceanside.

 The festival was one to remember with the participation of 274 teams including 8 professional teams: Senegal National Team, Team Pugg (made up of US National Team Players), SoCal Beach FC, Hampton Rds Elite, Aurora FC (2008 Champs), SD Sockers, Hawaii 5.0 & Club Marin.

 Many local and regional news agencies reported on the event which drew the attention of all soccer lovers for miles outside of San Diego.
Cajun Beach Soccer Playa .. Jared Montz showed off his crocodile in style taking hundreds of pictures with kids of all ages kicking off their soccer season on the beach at The SoCaBeSoCha. Jared is a former Professional Soccer player having played for the Chicago Fire.

 The largest Beach Soccer Clinic on the West Coast went smoothly with the guidance of US National Beach Soccer Team Coach Eddie Soto assisted by his team and by an estimated 55 local youth soccer coaches that volunteered to help manage the nearly 800 kids present at the beach soccer clinic.
All participating players of The US Open West (Pro-Am) bracket, participated in the Beach Soccer Clinic which looks to help kids fine tune their beach soccer skills right before the event kicks off on Saturday. Many kids took the opportunity to get autographs from our professional players which included all the member of the US Beach Soccer National Team.
 Friends came from very far away as in the case of Football Partnerships founder Alex Kotler who arrived from New York to be part of The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships .. Alex is actually credited with nicknaming our event The SoCaBeSoCha.

Alex made a pit stop at SDSU to discuss several topics in Sports Marketing with their graduate school students. All in all .. a very productive weekend for Alex who still had time to hang out at VIP reception held at the Wyndham Hotel & Resort in Oceanside.
 We also had a special guest .. none other than Mitchell Day from the England Beach Soccer National Team. Mitch came out to help our local Pro team (SoCal Beach FC). He is seen here showing off his aerial soccer skills (picture courtesy of Cajun Beach Soccer Playa).
Mitch flew back to England to join his England teammates on their way to the European Beach Soccer qualifiers .. best of luck Mitch, you made plenty of friends in Oceanside and we will miss you mate :)
 ONE OF THE LARGEST FREE BEACH SOCCER CLINICS IN THE WORLD
Since 2007, The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships has kicked off the weekend festivities with a FREE Beach Soccer Clinic intended to help our young soccer players learn more about the wonderful and exciting game of Beach Soccer.
The clinic takes place Friday May 15th from 4 - 6 pm in the Beach Stadium and adjacent fields. Eddie Soto, who was recently named head coach of the U.S. Beach Soccer National Team will lead the clinic and receive assistance from U.S. National team players along with other famous soccer stars & coaches from all over Southern California.  TRAFFIC/SHUTTLES/PARKING
The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships will be providing shuttle services to all our attendees on Saturday & Sunday from 7am to 5pm. The shuttles will start at the transit center in Oceanside and will drop everyone off at the Oceanside Harbor. For more info on location of Transit Center click here.
 The construction project in the Harbor that contributed to parking and traffic issues the past two years is now complete. The new bridge will allow for greater access and faster flow of traffic to the Harbor Beach. Our shuttles will also ensure fast transport of visitors from downtown Oceanside. We received a call from Ethan Zohn and due to extraordinary circumstances, Ethan regrets that he will not be able to attend this weekend's festivities. Nevertheless, he's looking forward to being here at Oceanside in 2010.
 BEACH SOCCER MONTH IN OCEANSIDE
The California Welcome Center has announced that it is Beach Soccer Month in Oceanside. Says Leslee Gaul, “This Festival draws 15,000 players and spectators from all over the World and they get to see how nice it is here.” There are beach soccer trainings set up on both weekends leading up to the Festival and specials at Joe’s Crab Shack.
The City of Oceanside boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. Many have decided to come a day early or stay a day later and visit the Oceanside Pier, Surf Museum, Oceanside Museum of Art, Legoland and many other attractions. The winners of The Hawaii Sand Soccer Championships the past two years, Hawaii 5.0, have entered their team in the Pro-Am bracket of The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships.

 CAPOEIRA, SAMBA & SURFING LESSONS
Surfing lessons will be provided for free to attendees of The Southern California Beach Soccer Championships by Surf Camps USA.
Capoeira will also be at the beach displaying their Brazilian Martial Arts & allowing Beach Soccer players to participate in their dances. Last year, Eshibobo teammates Joy Fawcett and Shannon MacMillan fell in the finals to a Sophia Perez (Mexican National Team Goalkeeper) led San Diego United squad. San Diego United is returning to defend their crown and they will be challenged by another woman’s Premiere team – San Diego Sea Lions.
